This acceleration logger can measure acceleration in three different axes (X, Y and Z).
When the logger is not moving and it is facing upwards, it will show a measurement of 9.8 m/s2
(static acceleration). When the logger is freely falling and facing upwards it will show a measurement of 0 m /s2
If you are only interested in the vertical axis (Z axis) and the dynamic acceleration, you can subtract 9.8 m/s2
from the readings and get 0 m/s2
when the logger is not moving and -9.8 m/s2
when in free fall.
The logger is well suited for measuring acceleration of e.g. toy cars in motion or swinging springs.
