Rustins Plastic Coating is a two-component clear lacquer consisting of a plastic resin and a separate hardener. When the two parts are mixed, a chemical reaction occurs that forms an exceptionally durable and glossy surface. The result is a hard, transparent plastic-like coating that effectively protects wood from scratches, heat, moisture, liquids, and everyday wear and tear.

This type of surface treatment is commonly used on tabletops, stairs, cabinets, and other areas where regular lacquer would quickly wear out. It is also very popular for refurbishing furniture where a beautiful, high-gloss finish combined with long-term durability is desired.

How to use – step by step

Preparation:
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of grease or wax. Lightly sand if necessary.

Mixing:
Mix the lacquer and hardener at the recommended ratio (typically 10:1). Only mix the amount you can use within 4–6 hours.

Application:
Apply with a quality brush in thin coats. The product self-levels well but can be lightly sanded between coats for an ultra-smooth finish.

Drying time:
Dust-free in about 30 minutes, touch-dry in 2–4 hours depending on temperature. Full cure is reached after 3–5 days.

Finishing:
Can be polished with fine steel wool and furniture wax for extra depth and gloss, if desired.
